Books

Your eyes didn't deceive you: books are in fact one of my prime interests, consuming a rather large amount of my spare time.

I really like books - not just to read them, but also to possess them (I'm what is also called a bibliophile).

Of course I'm reading a lot of trade literature or specialist literature (especially technical and scientific literature) - please refer to the pages about some of the other interests (e.g. science and movies) for further details.

I'm also reading a lot of novels. They are great when I need to relax.

My favourite author is definitely Michael Crichton (which shouldn't come as a surprise considering my background and interests).
Among my other favourite authors you'll find names such as: John Grisham, Thomas Harris, Dean R. Koontz, Edward Bunker, Richard Preston, Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, Andy McNab, Robin Cook, Michael Palmer, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, Steen Langstrup, Ed McBain, Daniel Silva, Jan Guillou, Michael Larsen, Jack Higgins, Helen MacInnes, Tom Clancy, James Patterson, Alistair MacLean, Chris Ryan and Mario Puzo.

When I read a good novel it is like watching a movie - I'm actually visualizing the plot, almost like watching the scenes in a movie.
I guess that's why I'm usually a little disappointed in the movie when a great novel is being converted into a movie - the movie will often be insufficient with a lot of plot holes (lacking the details that made the novel great), and of course it rarely fits the images I created in my mind when reading the novel (because that is something that is highly individual and unique).
